School Health Education Program and Distribution of Personal Hygiene Kits

Today, Wongchhu Sherpa Memorial Hospital, under the leadership of Dr. Gyaltsen, successfully conducted a School Health Education Programme and Personal Hygiene Kit Distribution at Wongchhu School, Chyangba.

This program is part of our ongoing effort to enhance community health and foster stronger community involvement in the health sector. By reaching out to schools and young students, we aim to build a foundation of health awareness that will benefit individuals, families, and the broader community in the long run.

During the session, students were educated on essential health topics such as:
✔️ Personal Hygiene – Understanding how to keep oneself clean and healthy
✔️ Oral Hygiene and Proper Brushing Techniques – Learning the importance of dental care in preventing oral diseases
✔️ Hand Washing and Its Importance – Recognizing hand washing as a powerful tool to prevent infections and maintain good health

In addition to health education, fluoride application was provided by Dr. Gyaltsen to students who had not received this preventive care during the previous dental camp. This simple yet effective intervention plays a vital role in preventing dental caries and promoting long-term oral health.

We are especially grateful to Mr. Ashal Tamang, a former staff member of our hospital and currently residing in Denmark, for his generous donation of personal hygiene kits, which were distributed to all participating students. These kits are not just materials—they are a message of care, empowerment, and the importance of hygiene in daily life.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to Mr. Sudip Sharma, Radiographer at Wongchhu Sherpa Memorial Hospital, for his active participation and excellent guidance in teaching students the importance of maintaining good personal hygiene.

This initiative is a part of our broader mission to bring health services closer to the people, especially in rural and remote communities like Chyangba. By engaging schools, supporting students, and involving local leaders and former staff, we are building a more inclusive, health-conscious, and resilient community.

We sincerely thank everyone who contributed their time, resources, and energy to make this programme a meaningful success.

Together, let’s continue our journey toward a healthier, more aware, and empowered society.
