Advancing Diagnostic Excellence at Wongchhu Sherpa Memorial Hospital

We are proud to announce a significant enhancement to our diagnostic capabilities with the installation of the Wondfo Fully Automated Chemiluminescence Analyzer—a state-of-the-art system now operational in the laboratory of Wongchhu Sherpa Memorial Hospital, Solukhumbu.

This advanced analyzer enables highly accurate, rapid, and efficient blood testing across a wide range of clinical parameters. It marks a transformative step forward in our commitment to delivering accessible, quality healthcare to the communities we serve.

About the Analyzer

The Wondfo Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA) Analyzer automates the entire testing process—from sample pipetting to final result generation—ensuring precision, safety, and speed. With the capacity to perform up to 36 tests per hour, this system is well-suited to meet growing diagnostic demands in a rural, high-throughput setting.

Currently Available Tests:

  • Thyroid Function Panel
  • Cardiac Marker Panel
  • Vitamin D3 and Vitamin B12

Planned Expansion: Our goal is to gradually expand our test menu to include fertility and hormonal panels, tumor markers, infectious disease markers, bone metabolism indicators, TORCH screening, and more.

Comprehensive Testing Scope (Upcoming Panels Include)

  • Thyroid Function: TSH, FT3, FT4, Anti-TPO
  • Cardiac Markers: Troponin I, BNP, D-Dimer, CK-MB
  • Tumor Markers: PSA, CA-125, CA 19-9
  • Hormonal Profiles: AMH, FSH, LH, Estradiol, Cortisol
  • Infectious Diseases: HIV, Hepatitis B & C, Dengue
  • Vitamin & Bone Health: 25-OH Vitamin D, PTH, Osteocalcin
  • Inflammatory Markers: CRP, IL-6, Procalcitonin
  • Pregnancy Infections (TORCH): Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, CMV

Each test will offer our clinicians vital data to improve diagnostic accuracy, initiate timely treatments, and monitor patient progress more effectively.

A Gift That Saves Lives

This machine was generously donated by Mrs. Sherry Auerbach, in loving memory of her husband, the late Dr. Paul Auerbach—a visionary leader in wilderness medicine and a dedicated supporter of our hospital. This life-saving contribution was made possible through the Rotary Club of Los Altos, USA, via the Wongchhu Sherpa Memorial Trust.

Their generosity reflects a shared commitment to strengthening healthcare access in remote Himalayan regions.

With Gratitude

We express our deepest appreciation to Mrs. Auerbach, the Rotary Club of Los Altos, and our partners who continue to invest in the health and resilience of Solukhumbu.

This diagnostic advancement will allow us to serve our patients with greater confidence, efficiency, and care—paving the way for stronger community health outcomes.

Visit Us

We invite our community members and healthcare partners to visit our lab and experience first-hand the difference this new technology brings. Together, we are elevating healthcare in the Himalayas—one test, one diagnosis, and one life at a time.
