Free Cataract Surgery Camp Successfully Held at Wongchhu Sherpa Memorial Hospital

A TWO-DAY free cataract surgery camp was successfully conducted at Wongchhu Sherpa Memorial Hospital, providing critical eye care services to approximately 200 patients, out of which 24 cataract surgeries were performed. This noble initiative has brought immense relief, joy, and improved quality of life to countless families in the region. The camp demonstrated the power of collaboration and community service, made possible through the combined efforts of 7 Summits Foundation, Matrika Eye Center, Himalayan Yokpu Foundation, Solududhkunda Municipality, Ward No. 10, and a team of dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure its success.

Special gratitude is extended to Dr. Harshika Rauniyar and her surgical team for their outstanding expertise, compassionate care, and dedication to patient well-being. Their remarkable service has been a beacon of hope for many. Sincere thanks are also due to Mr. AC Sherpa’s relentless support and continuous efforts to uplift the lives of the people in Tapting.

The organizing teams, 7 Summits Foundation and Himalayan Yokpu Foundation deserve high praise for their extraordinary commitment and coordination in making this camp a reality. Their work is inspiring and a testament to the transformative impact of collective efforts toward humanitarian goals. Such initiatives set an example of hope, compassion, and community-driven progress.

Some of the glimpses of farewell and work of our volunteer medical team all the way from the USA, a good friend of Late Dr. Paul. We really appreciate the work of Dr Howard Backer and his wife RN Anita Backer at our hospital for nearly two weeks.
During these days, we learned a lot from them and this learning will be practiced throughout our medical journey.
